Aim: To broaden young people’s experience through involvement with others in a residential setting
Buckinghamshire County Council Duke of Edinburgh’s Award does not approve agencies which may be used for this section of The Award. Participants and parents should satisfy themselves that appropriate safety procedures are followed.
Activenture
Activenture organise residential experiences for young people (guests) aged 8-18 with disabilities or special needs at their two centres; Woodrow, Buckinghamshire and Hindleap Warren, East Sussex. They need volunteers (minimum aged 14) who can befriend and help guests with personal care as part of a small group. Activities include archery, abseiling, swimming and canoeing. Longridge Activity Centre
Offers a wide range of courses for young people as well as a campsite for youth groups. During the summer, service crews of volunteers help the permanent staff to offer fun and rewarding activities.
